I just put a new page on my web site about basset hound books. I have 5 books posted on the page www.bubbasbasset.com/books.html. My wife and I have read many book about bassets, but these are the best so far. Do any of you know of some really good books about bassets that I might be missing?

do you want this just to be instructional? I have some great children's basset books that I collect.

Many people recommend "The Basset Hound Owner's Survival Guide."
And Jo Ann, I'd love to hear recommendations of children's books with bassets!

Great idea for your site Michael. How about including a personal perspective of the books you and your wife have read? Like a book review from a Basset Owners view.
I thought that "A New Owners Guide to Basset Hounds" was a real pain to read? This Joan Urban lady either needs to teach English at Harvard or Yale and stop writing books or maybe put away the Thesaurus. And I quote.. “Confinement of the female in heat is especially important to prevent unwanted attention from some neighborhood Lothario. . .”
Lothario >noun (pl. Lotharios) a womanizer. -ORIGIN from a character in Nicholas Rowe's tragedy The Fair Penitent (1703).
After reading that, I was so scared that I rushed right out that night and bought an antique chastity belt for Hanna! Haha..

Actually, Joann, I would love to get some titles of children's books. I have an old book called "The Sleepy Puppy" about a Basset puppy but it is the only one I could find. It would be great to have some to read to Ally since she LOVES books! And so does Lillian, but she likes to chew them..LOL.

LoL...good one Lonnie. we have what you could say reviews of the books...I definately think it obvious which book(2) I prefer. I have talked to Joan and she write exactly the way she writes...LoL
Jo ann I was thinking more along the lines of instructional and history of the breed, but you are right, there are numerous good children's books out there. I try to keep my basset collection limited, but childrens books about and starring bassets are always a favorite. My wife says we should write one about our basset Queenie. She is such a chicken its funny.
