Food Recall

I had been looking for the list of foods being recalled. I found it on Dogster. I thought I would post it here just incase some of you are using some of the bad dog food. I use Purina, and from what I can tell my crew should be in the clear. I hope we have no sick bassets from this,and please light a candle for the dogs that did not make it. And drool for all the ones that are sick.

Huge Pet Food Recall: March 16th, 2007
“A major manufacturer of dog and cat food sold under Wal-Mart, Safeway, Kroger and other store brands recalled 60 million containers of wet pet food Friday after reports of kidney failure and deaths.

An unknown number of cats and dogs suffered kidney failure and about 10 died after eating the affected pet food, Menu Foods said in announcing the North American recall. Product testing has not revealed a link explaining the reported cases of illness and death, the company said.”

Thx for the listing kiddo. We're in the clear here as well. I did send an email to Canidae just to be sure and have been assured we are fine. Healing hugs and prayers to all the animals affected by this.

Well, mine are on Nutro (Sophie) and Hill's / Science Diet (Basil), but they're on the dry food and the recall is just for wet food (for now, anyway).

A friend of mine's father had to put his dog to sleep because of kidney failure. The day after they put the dog to sleep, they found out about the recall, so he has the receipt and the dog food container ready to go if it turns into a big lawsuit and he is mad.

I did see on Good Morning America today (The little thing that scrolls across the bottom) That there is a lawsuit being filed stating that they knew that the food was bad and did nothing about it until it was too late. If that is the case and those poor animals suffered/are suffering then I hope they get what is coming to them. I am sorry to hear about his dog!!! Maybe he can find out more about the lawsuit.

I feed Gizmo wet food,but she only eats Purina or Pedigree but I think I will get her some dry food until this mess is all cleared up!

If Gizmo won't eat the wet food, try soaking her food in chicken broth. That is what one of the websites suggested for those that can't get their pets to eat dry food. It is horrible. I hope he is able to get some kind of settlement for his little dog too. I heard that Menu Foods would only reimburse the owner the cost of the food plus what the pet is worth, which I think is pretty crappy. Pets are such a HUGE part of families this day. You could not pay me to get rid of my babies.

WHAT? How do they know what a pet is worth? HONESTLY!!!! You know I cannot stand stupid people. How are you in the "pet" business and act like that. I hope some one sues the hell out of them!

Who knows.. I am sure that if you tell them what kind of dog you had, they will I guess find out how much they sell for and pay you for the lowest, puppy mill price they can find. I would so sue if it were me. I can't imagine how this guy must feel.

Thanks for posting the list I checked all mine and no bad ones I buy in bulk I had quite a bit of dry and can took a long time looking up all the dates and urls. I think these people responsable should be put in jail as well as fined its just plain murder.
