I didn't forget about your question Helen, about what an arroyo is. I thought I could get some pics of it to show you. The pics aren't great (but I wasn't up to trekking through the neighbor's yard again) but they might give you an idea of where Elvis took off to. This is the part of the arroyo that I "cornered" him in. Of course, if he hadn't been so tired he probably would've kept going another few miles! An arroyo is a dry creek bed. This is the one that we have to cross over to get to our house. In the 20 years we've been here it's flowed 3 or 4 times. We get stuck on the other side of it and have to trek home. Not bad unless you're hauling groceries! This is the area that Elvis made a bee line for. It's got lots of houses, outbuildings and fences all over everywhere. I got so lucky when he turned around and came back! And this is just a pic headed up our driveway. He got to ride home in the car and was very grateful for that. As tired as he was, he was still pretty darned proud of himself!

Thanks for the pics...I was wondering what a arroyo was. I was starting to think it was a basset race track....I think that is what Elvis thought

You're right Kristol. It's his own track! I don't know how many miles it goes but he would be one tried basset if he tried going all the way down it!

I think I would have passed out chasing him!! I hope he never wants to do that again. Thanks for showing us what an arroyo is.
