I really don't like giving the hounds anything like table scraps cause of the weight and begging problems.
But my son brings home so many loafs of Italian Bread (Best in the world) from the Italian Restaurant he works at that I just can't eat it all. (boy I try!)
Is this safe to be giving to my babies? I heard a wheat issue not sure what they was saying though?

My hounds are sooooo sneaky and have have eaten many loafs of bread and they have always been ok. The funny thing is that they actually take it out of the wrapper to eat it. I don't think it will hurt them in any way. Except of course if they eat way too much they might have a little tummy ache Dawn

Found this on a site for feeding veggies etc to dogs. It states "Dogs love bread. Fortunately, bread is a healthy snack. You can add it to the meal or use for treats"

I wouldn't give them much though...I would think an occasional treat would be ok.

Hi all - Bread? Would Pizza Crusts fit that criteria? If so, our 2nd Basset girl, Molly Ringwald, LOVED Fridays cause she knew what the pizza box was and just sat and waited patiently until Dad would give her his pizza crusts......She actually loved anything that he would ear, she thought it must be just as good for her...... Our Gus so loves baked goods he's known as the Bread Shark amongst the kids my wife daycares. No sandwich is safe for the 2 foot-tall set! Now you see it, (gulp) now you don't. Rgds, Dave

I guess this is just like being a new parent---I am following all the rules, no table food. Lexie has picked up a piece of lettuce that I dropped in the floor and didn't much care for it.
My brothers lab loves, loves carrots. She gets one every single day when he comes home from lunch. This is her only table food and she seems to know when it is lunch time. Any other time of the day, you can open the fridge and she doesn't pay any attention.

I'm really not much for giving them scraps? there is only three things that I will break down and give my babies. Bread Pasta noodles (Plain) I'm SURE that can't be good? and Peanutbutter on their dog biscuits (I love to watch them act goofy eating the peanutbutter. Like they need any help acting goofy?)

Boy do I have to take back everything I said above? I had to give her peanut butter in order to get her to take her paid meds! Bad mommy!

Actuallly, some things are good for them to have. Like rice, vegetables like green beans and carrots, and even some fruit such as apples. I use these foods when I have run out of treats sometimes and Lily loves them. I don't give them to her in the kitchen or dining area though. But she will try to eat anything that the baby is eating in her high chair..lol. Also, if they are having poopy problems like if it is too hard or really soft, giving them a little bit of pumpkin (get the real canned pumpkin not the pie filling) in their meal will help with that. I have even heard that giving them a tiny bit of plain yogurt (low or no fat) will help with yeasty ears and rashes.
