I am glad that I found this place. I have been looking for a place just for Bassets or dogs at least.
Tomorrow we are driving about 3 or so hours away to get our basset puppy. We cant wait. ITs a boy and we are naming him Norton. ( A character off of the old show The Honeymooners.) We have other pets and we hope that he will fit right in. I dont have any questions right now, but I have been doing a lot of reading. We will be crate training him. And we have a big fenced in yard for him to play in.

WELCOME! I have two Basset puppies...well, they are getting bigger every day! Mowgli will be one this month and Baloo is six months old. Both were crate trained and did (do) well with it. Can't wait to see pictures either!!! I LOVED them as puppies...so cute! Now when people see them they say, "Oh my gosh...is that really Baloo (or Mowgli) She has gotten SOOO big!" So enjoy the puppy time...it goes by fast!!

Hi Angie! To date, this is the nicest Basset board I've come across. Welcome! My buddy, Gus, is now 8 months old. My parents have one of his littermates, Gwynie, and their aunt, Betsy. Visits to the folks are a hoot!

Thanks for all the nice warm welcomes. Wow another person who named their pup Norton and from the same person. Cool! You must like the Honeymooners show. We have the DVD set and watch them often. Anyways, it was tiring day yesterday, but we have our new puppy. He is aw so cute. He did fine in his crate, we put him to bed at 10pm and he yelped at first. But after awhile he went to sleep and did not yelp until 6am. He did not pee or poop in his crate either. We have been so diligent about taking him outside. I hope that he will continue to do well. ( fingers crossed)
I have not gotten any pics on here yet. I have taken a few of him asleep. And I will take some of him awake soon.
He is sooo cute!!

I am so glad he does well in the crate! Just keep on top of the potty situation and I am sure he will do great. Please post pics when you get the chance. We know that being a mommy to a puppy is a lot of work and takes up a lot of time. Congratulations and keep us posted!
