I gave Lily a bath today. I had been a bad momma :(and hadn't given her one in about a month and I normally give her one about every two to three weeks. I will normally just wipe her down every other day or so. Well, picture this and you will know why I waited!..... A whining, crying, squirming, wet, wiggly puppy that wants nothing more than to get out of the tub and away from that yucky water and shampoo! Trying desperately to jump out at every opportunity and jumping on me trying to climb my shirt! Ok. To say she HATED it would be an understatement!!! So, flash forward to today..... She not only didn't whine or cry, but she sat still, rubbed on my hand more and seemed to moan in pleasure. :DShe even rolled over to let me wash her belly! ;D Then after I toweled her off, she took off around the house running and jumping and bringing me toys for her to fetch! She seemed so HAPPY! So, question....why the change? What do your hounds do??

Well, I really don't have a hard time with Lexie because I rinse her every week. I guess she is getting used to it. I put one of her rubber bones in the water and she'll play with it. Afterwards, I'll try to towel dry her but all she wants to do it chew on the towel and run like she is on fire. The last bath that I gave her, when I closed the bathroom door, she walked over to the tub and stood on her back legs ready to get in. I'm not sure how I'm going to lift her into the tub when she gets to be a BIG girl.

How terrific! I'm so glad she enjoyed it! Am I a terrible mommy to admit that I just take Norton to a groomer's for a bath once every two months? I clean his ears two or three times a week, brush him once or twice a week, and trim his nails when he needs it (he's a very good boy and sits still for it), but an actual, honest-to-goodness bath just seems like too much work for lazy ol' me!

I used to bathe her once a week or more because she would still mess in her crate every now and then and I had to. She never got used to it. I had thought about just taking her to the groomer after all the grief she was giving me. But hubby said, why pay for it when you can do it at home? I kind of agreed but still pay to take Lily to the vet for her nail trimming every two weeks or so. She absolutely HATES it and I can't control her enough to be sure I won't cut them too short. The techs love her and do it really fast. It only costs about $10 so well worth it!!

We don't have a bathtub in our house, only a stall shower. I wasn't sure how that was going to work out with bathing Gus, but it isn't TOO bad. He walks around in circles, whimpering, but he doesn't seem traumatized by the experience.
After he's done, he runs and runs and runs. Then he smears his face on the floor and the walls, leaving hair everywhere. I think the funniest thing is when he runs and tries to shake at the same time... His butt does this funny wiggle.
