Hi again everyone, Well here is the latest news on "Saddam" Our rescue dept has been very busy while I have been away, they have tracked down the breeder and his real name is "ROBERT" . They have up to date been unable to find his original owner as they have left their original known address , The rescue have put a notice in the Melbourne daily paper to try to find his owner in case he has been lost,, if this is not successfull a new home is waiting for him. Robert has put on 35lbs since his rescue and his eyes are just about fixed , he had ulsers in them from the sand that he lived in under the wharf in dockland, so at the moment he is coming along nicely so it will not be long before he is healthy enough to either go to his owner IF WE FIND THEM AND THEY STILL WANT HIM,,If we do find them they will be checked out thoughly to make sure they want him for EVER. If not he will go to a new home. I dought that we will find his original owner. Robert is a loverly big Red basset 7 years old and a beautifull temperment I hope to get a photo of him to post later. Regards Harry

I think it is great that you have been able to find Robert's breeder. How did you manage that? I doubt you could do that with the rescues here. I can see you wanting to find his original owner. He could have been lost and they gave up ever finding him. I had a cat once that was gone for a month and when we finally found him he was not in very good shape. We were relieved to find him and got him vetted and healthy again and he lived for another 14 years. We had given up hope that he would be found.
I am also glad that the rescuers will check them out thouroughly if they are found. If they dumped him then they don't deserve to have him back!!
I am so glad they found him and were able to get him taken care of. He must have been so scared! Please keep us updated on how he is doing.

Hi Betty Its not very difficult to track a breeder in Victoria as there are not many of us breeders about and we can usualy recognise any that are our breeding , we can check by colour and any particular markings then we can then do other checks that can hopefully give us a rough idea which litter they come from , then by a few phone calls we most times come up with the answer as it did this time. there are only about 8 breeders in Victoria ,and we all keep good records of where our pups have gone.
