We use those exact collars, Lonnie! Mowgli & Baloo chewed through the plastic snaps...and when they play they tend to drag each other around by the collar!
Those are the only ones strong enough for them!!!

Hi all Boomer is a "mascot" (all the girls love him) for an allstar cheerleading squad. I wanted to get him and another Dog custom made collars that have the squads colors and name on them. Does anyone know who might be able to make these? Thanks a bunch Debby

Yes they actually drag each other all over the yard by the collar...like two little kids wrestling. It's a riot to watch and they are actually pretty careful with each other.

Hi there boomers mom.. . I am new to a lot of this bassett business myself, but I know that lillian vernon (.com, if ya don't get their junkmail already) has just about everything under the sun, and they personalize it too. If that doesn't work, my husband does some art work for a company called Studio Ink here in Grand Rapids MI. They do work nationwide though. I have no idea how much it may cost you, and I know the less quantity the more it costs, but you may ask them, or any other printing shops in town. Look for embroidery shops or sport shops that sell trophys and stuff. You may have to purchase the collars/leads and bring them to the company, but it can be done. Good luck on your search, and thanks for your info and support of buddy, he is doing MUCH better now! ;D

Leather has always stained their fur, no matter how expensive. I used to love the english rolled leather style (convertible to choke or plain collar) in brown, but can't find it anymore.
I now use Aspen mountain style rolled nylon chokes. They are real thick and real padded. With their dewlaps, all of any other style of collar seems uncomfortable for them. Its like gathering up all that loose skin and putting it in a twistie tie! I even tie them out (well they are only out for a few minutes at a time and then want in) on their cable runner on these and no problems. I just hate the tightness of regular collars on my bassets' necks. I know people might holler at me about not tieing them out on a choke, but these aren't chains, they are like 1/2 thick padded and rolled chokes, and they have done fine for three generations on them now. They have pretty much figured them out.
These have lasted a long long time, I thin our current ones are maybe 3 years old. I have a problem with the snap lock collars made of plastic, if these guys really pull, I fear they can pop out of them (or they had in the past anyway. We owned a pet store and had access to any kind of collar we wanted... and this did happen with the first plastick snap collars, maybe they are better now).
So that is just my take.

I swear that must be a sight to see your hounds dragging eachother around by their collars MowgliBaloo! Mine just use the others ears? ;D Dottie,Yeah sort of my thoughts about the plastic snap ones too. That's why I fell in love with these made out of metal. Plus they look much nicer too. Hey I just saw the "English rolled leather style collars" in one of my catalogs at home I'll have to see which Dog Catalog that was I got 5 in one day? Debbie,If you go online to www.drsfostersmith.com you can get these Collars & Leads with what every you want put on them for around $15.00 each! Not sure about the Squad colors though? Hey do you have pictures of Boomer being a mascot? I'm sure we'd all love to see them!

Lonnie thanks for the info. No pics of him being a mascot yet although i could certainly arrange something during practice. We don't dress him up or anything, we just wanted to have collars made. I am thinking about a handkerchief (sp?) that has the colors and logo. The name of the squad is Coastal Magic and we are pink black and silver. My husband wants to limit the pink on his collar go figure ;D anyway, i will get some out next week. deb

A handkerchief would be great and I think I would go with the lead having the logo cause it would stand out more then just having the Collar? Yep Pink for a Male Basset? Don't know about that or not? haha.. They have a big selection of colors. PINK HUH?Can't wait for pictures! Got to dress him up! haha.. ;D

I don't know, how about black with pink lettering or black with silver lettering? Pink would show up but then there is that Male thing. Although if David has to wear his Tshirt with the pink lettering i guess boomer can wear his collar? hehehehe ;D
