I neglected my garden this year so yesterday I finally got out there and started pulling the weeds. And there were a LOT of them. Of course I had to have proper supervision for this - so the houndies volunteered! Despite them, I got the weeds pulled and even planted some things. Maggie dug up the new plants so I corralled her in the house and replanted them. With a little luck they'll survive. Elvis found the shady spot Maggie followed me all over - looking for the tastiest plants And Dart had the right idea - he decided that lamb's ear makes a great bed! I foresee a summer long fight trying to keep the garden going!

Everytime I try to set a flower out the dogs either dig them or eat them. Good luck on your flower garden. Your dogs are so cute I like the picture of Dart. The typical basset.

Dart is very lucky that he is a typical basset. I got him about 6 months ago from a very abusive situation. He'd been left in a back yard and was covered with open sores, infections etc. etc. etc. He's such a grand old man (about 10) and I still shake with anger when I think of what those people did to him! I promised him a good life - however long (and I hope it's many years) he has left. If napping in the garden makes him happy - then he can do it all he wants!

I can't stand it when people are mean to dogs!! Thank GOD for people like you to take him in and give him a good home. I made the choice about my backyard when I got the dogs. Yard or Dogs. I choose the dogs. I do plant flowers in my front yard.

Oh, I wish had a garden. There is no telling what my hounds would do to it though! I love that picture of Dart. He looks so happy and content. He is so lucky to have found a forever home with you. Elvis looks so handsome sitting up there.. He almost looks as if he is surveying the land to make sure no one is getting into anything they shouldn't be. It doesn't surprise me that Maggie is looking for plants to eat! After the stories I have heard.. lol Good luck with your garden! You'll have to show us some more pictures if the hounds let it grow!

I call Dart my protector. He has to know where I am every moment of the day. I also think part of it is losing his other humans - he doesn't competely understand that nothing bad will ever happen to him if I can prevent it.
Mary, I think there is a special place in hell for people who abuse those who are weaker than they are - 2 or 4 leggers. Not that I wouldn't like to see them get some justice here on earth! I am just happy that occassionally I can make things better for someone who has known abuse and neglect. They give me far more than I can ever give them!

Maggie looks like she really wants to help.
Thanks goodness Dart got a good home. I wonder how someone can abuse a animal. I just don't understand, but then again I like to think that I think on a higher level than them.
You probably will not believe me but my crew does not mess with my flowers or garden. Ernest did break off one of my cucumber plants. He was in the garden with me and sat on it.

Oh, your pictures are so cute. I just have to many to even think of a flower garden in their yard. I'm gonna try to put some out front, if my guy well not mow or weedeat them down, he well tell me this or that spot is ok, and when I plant something, he mowes it down ,he well say I planted it in the way. We have done this for years. I'm so proud to know you ,for taking in a poor ole man (Dart) and let him have a chance for some happiness. Bless you and I hope he has many years of good health.
