Dart has a beautiful signal orange bandage on and is so happy to be home. The vet wanted to keep him overnight so she could check him in the morning but I nixed that idea. I'm more than happy to bring him back as many times as necessary but he's sleeping at home where he belongs! The current problem was necrosis - basically the area they removed the tumor from has a compromised blood system going to it and there was a lot of dead cells they needed to clean out. We don't know if it will happen again - hence the vet visit tomorrow and as many other days as needed. Still no results from the lab - I guess when they know what type of tumor it was they can better predict what will happen. I feel much better having him at home, but won't feel good about it until I know exactly what is going on. Thanks for all the drool! 6/19 Dart is doing much better today. He had his bandage changed and everything looks good. Hopefully he won't have to go back til Friday to have the tube removed. The lab results came back as a squamous basal carcinoma. They said it had clean edges, so hopefully it hasn't spread. It is also slow growing. My big hope is that it hasn't & doesn't reach his lymph nodes. But I'll deal with that down the road - if I have to. He dragged himself to his bed by my 'puter last night and crashed Thanks for all the drool & prayers!!!!

I'm not sure exactly what squamous basal carcinoma is, but I will google it! The smooth edges and the fact that it is slow growing sounds like good news though. Poor Dart, he has been through so much these past few days. Orange is a good color on him though. I am glad he is finally home with you and able to be by your side. We are still sending drool your way. I will be mean and eat some chocolate chip cookies in front of the hounds to get them going again. Lots of hugs to you! I know this is very stressful on you as well! I'm keeping you both in my thoughts.

I don't know anything about that kind of tumor but I'm assuming is malignant for which I'm sorry but I am glad to hear that the margins were clean. We'll be slinging drool that it didn't spread.

Dart is milking this for all it's worth! But I am more than happy to spoil him rotten.
He went to the vet yesterday to have his bandage changed and now has an electric blue one. He goes back tomorrow for another change. I could do it, but he LOVES going to the vet and they love seeing him. They also don't charge us for it.
He also has a new bed - but he won't get it until he's healed.
