Hey guys, I know this is not a basset hound but it is still really sad. My sister in law told me tonight that her cat died. She is not usually let outside, but somehow she managed to get out. My sister in law and 3 year old niece were out there and both of them saw the cat get hit. The person did not stop, even as Holly started running out there. She wasn't able to get the cat and called my brother to come home and pick the cat up to bury her. It was very traumatic, so if you guys could light a candle and say a quick prayer, especially for my baby niece as she is really upset by the whole ordeal, it would be much appreciated. Sully is cuddling up next to me right now and being uncharacteristicly good. Sandy is her mom and I think she senses something.

Lots of drool for you sister-in-law & her family. It's such a tragic way to die! It's even worse that they had to see it.
Run free Sandy!

I live close to the road too. I know the pain ,some people just don't care, the loss of a pet is so hard. prayers and thoughts are with them.

I will light a candle for her.
Some people are just rude. Accidents happen and there is nothing you can do, but it would not kill them to stop.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers guys. My little niece is taking it pretty hard. She went outside this morning, looked at the road and said, "Sandy?" then started crying. She asked my sister-in-law, "Why did Daddy bury her? I wanted to pet her before she died." So sad and heartbreaking. I talked to my older niece (she is 6) earlier today and she said she is very sad too. Sandy had kittens about 4 months ago. One of them is Sully, another one was taken by one of my friends and the 3rd one they kept. The 4th one did not make it and they buried Sandy next to her in the backyard. The one that they kept, they named him Ringo and he looks just like Sandy. I think he is a big comfort to them right now.
