My ex-stepdad's federal court hearing for the child molestation charges begins on Monday, Sept. 24th! I was worried that this was going to be a long, drawn out process but they are moving pretty quickly. As of right now, he is back in jail. He was re-arrested (AGAIN) by the secret service for violating international commerce laws. Apparently the camera he used was made in Japan and they busted him on that. Anyway, if he pleas guilty, he will get 15 years, but if he pleas not guilty, he'll have a jury trial and if found guilty by the jury, he will get anywhere from 15-30 years and the detective on the case says if he goes to the jury, she believes he will get 30 years.

I am just so glad the case is moving forward and isn't stuck at a standstill.

Jenn that is fabulous news!!! I think even 30 is not enough, but given the state of the justice system anything will be better than nothing.

I am glad to hear they are not dragging it out. I bet he pleads out to avoid 30 years. They have way to much against him.

Glad to hear that things are moving along. Hopefully he will plead out and spare everyone the trial ... since he is obviously guilty.
