Hi everone, Today I spent some time with Robert ( Saddam) at his temporary home with Grace our rescue person. Grace lives in the foothills of Mt Donna-Buang , My 1st photo shows the type of beautifull country he now lives in as distinct of under the wharf at docklands where he was found, the photo was taken from Graces back yard. Well as the photos show Robert is putting on weight now at a rate of knots and is starting to look great, his only problem is his eyes which are still very sore, it looks like it will take some time to heal the ulcers in his eyes ,the vet has removed a cherry from one of his eyes and this also has to heal other wise he is ready to go to a forever new home.. Robert has a beautifull temperment and loves everone , he is a very happy little man and during my visit he followed me ever where , Grace has given him the run of the kennels and is enjoying his new found life, I came away after my visit feeling that this rescue has been a great success and another basset life has been saved. Photo of Roberts back yard. With my wife Wendy for 1st meeting. Walking with Wendy. Robert looking up at Grace with loving eyes. Robert and I meeting for the 1st time. Well thats the latest update on Robert and I will let you all know when he leaves our care to go to his new home , He is such a lovely boy he will make his new owner very happy and I hope in return they make him happy also, in any case his life will be monitored by Grace..

Hi Lonnie and Betty, The place where he lives with Grace is a very beautifull valley called Powell Town situated at the foot of a mountain range it is a small timber town of about 200 people 50 miles from Melbourne ,Grace runs boarding kennels thats why she is able to look after our rescues. In oz we have very few bassets dumped that is why when we do have a bad rescue such as Robert it makes big news. And Betty he still has trouble with his eye sight , it appears he is slightly blind , , his eyes are still very sore and still need a lot of vet treatment, once we get his eyes fixed he is ready to go to his new home. Read Roberts details on our club web site. www.geocities.com/bhcv_club/robbie.htmlRegards Harry

Robert looks like he is doing well thanks to people like you and Grace. I still have a hard time understaning how people can drop off their pet. I assume since you are saying that he will be up for adoption soon that you either did not find his owner or the owner will not be allowed to have him back. Just the other day I had a friend tell me she was getting rid of her cat and I blurted out before I thought about it "How can you love a animal for years and the get rid of it?" I dont understand---once I make the commitment to have the pet, it's mine for live.
