Hi every one. Have you any photos of your bassets doing odd things. Our Sam on the top deck of the Sorrento Ferry looking for seals. Sam and Nikki on the wharf looking at the ferry docking Sam doing a bit of fishing.

Wow Harry your kids are almost human! Very talented puppies! ;D Gees mine don't do any neat things? Well this is as close as any of my hounds get. . . Here's a photo of Hanna on one of her many Intercontinental flights flying a Boeing 727. Alright.. Alright.. I know? She’s only co-piloting the plane So does that count?

A reindeer short or a short reindeer? ;D Being new to Basseting, I'm not sure yet what constitutes odd behaviour. I have only observed this: 1. Want Emily to be quiet, she'll bark. Want her to bark, she'll go to sleep. 2. Take her outside to piddle, she will. Don't take her outside, she will piddle in the house, or maybe go outside on her own to piddle, it depends. 3. Feed most dogs and they go to sleep. Feed Emily and she goes into high gear. 4. Emily got her first steak bone the other day and it was love at first bite. She will scatter her chew toys all through the house, but her bones are piled neatly right where I will step on them. 5. Most dogs will sleep in a favorite spot. Emily will sleep anywhere my feet stop moving. 6. When riding in the car, if you want her on your lap, she takes to the floor and hides under the seat. Want her in the floor, she will climb onto your lap. 7. Open a crinkly package to feed the fish or give yourself a treat, Emily wants one. Give it to her and she won't eat it. 8. Look up 'contrary' in the dictionary and you get this picture:

Every single bit of that sounds like Lexie. I can't think of anything that she does out of the normal except drive my cats crazy. Her talent consists of sit, and down. We haven't perfect quiet or stay. Sometimes she will shake but it depends on the mood and if anyone else is around. Hubby leaves in the morning for his trip and we start obedience training on Monday. He says when he gets back she better have learned how to be quiet and not get on the couch. We bought her a bed last night thinking it would keep her off the couch and guess what she wants to do with it? Chew and tug at it like a toy. Geeze! Harry-Sam and Nikki look like they are ready for a swim. Are they from the same litter---they look an awful lot alike!

Harley while casting one of his many wizard spells! He was trying to turn his kibble into ribeye but only managed to make everything around him turn blurrie with white squiggly lines twirling all around? Good Try Harley Boy! Stick with it you'll figure it out!

I'm not sure that Bassets are totally untrainable in that they will fall into a routine. For instance, when I get up at 4am Emily would bark (for food) every time I got a cup of coffee. Now that she's been in the routine for a couple of weeks, she's relaxed, she knows she'll get breakfast, and rarely follows me into the kitchen for every cup.
Also, we're trying to get the motor home ready for a vacation in March and have left Emily home whenever we have to run for parts. I think this has fostered better behavour out of her (especially potty training) in that she wants to be good so she can go next time.
Or not.
Steve

Well I have a couple. First of all, Susie (she is like 13) has this thing for boxes... she thinks every day is Christmas, and she is shown here destroying a box, popped all the air pillows, and there was also a few peanuts flying around. She aroos and chews on the box and makes quite a ruckus... she is a bit senile but she has her days! Then, Sam loves to sit in chairs. Lawn chairs especially. Here is one, (the beach ball is his friend). He sleeps in them, he is about 79 pounds, it is amazing to see him get into them. And finally Sam has the bad habit of lying on the stairs... Dot
