Chooch, my heeler, is incredibly smart. And she also obeys, which is a nice change from the bassets!
Years ago we decided that 4 dogs was our limit. But then strays kept turning up in our yard (we live in a rural area that is a good dumping ground) and I fell in love with bassets.
There is a sweet basset girl in MO who has been in rescue for way too long. The worst part is that the only foster home available is one where she has to stay outside. I have been going back and forth for months on whether or not to apply to adopt her. I keep goign to the website praying that ADOPTED will be written across her pic.
Send some drool, please, that she finds a forever home before winter.

I missed reading on the board for a few days and missed all kinds of good stuff! Your flag is beautiful and that is so sweet of Mary to have sent it. Helen, trying to find a date for your son is too funny. And, I feel like all of you. I wish I lived closer to all of you. Each time I check in on this board I feel like I actually bring all of you into my home. Good friends are hard to find ... but thank God for Basset Friends. Now, I need to go find something to eat after reading about Helen's birthday dinner. And Chris, your dogs are all adorable ... with sweet pups like that ... who could blame you for having 9.
