my cloe woke up from her early evening nap two nights ago with a wheezey cough that sounded like she was choking. being the flash paramedic i am i assessed her airway and it was open, nothing obstructing, her breathing was a little fast and wheezey, but heart rate seemed fine also. i sat with her and loved on her and my emma came over and licked her face and she finally calmed down. it had awoken her and i think it really scared her. as both my houndies had been dreaming heavily, i thought maybe she had a nightmare, and was scared and had to calm down. well, last evening it happened again. she did not get as scared this time. it only happens in the evening, she sleeps in our room , so i would know about the overnight protion also. there is no event leading up to it, jst lounging. she does not have any rashes that would indicate an allergy, and like i said it only happens in the evening. anyone ever had anything like this happen? it scares her more than distress her(according to my crack paramedic assessment anyway). and last nnight the episode did not concern emma at all.

She may have alergies. Have you switcher her diet lately? Also everything is in bloom now so it really may be alergies. How old is she? A visit to the vet may be in order.

she is just over a year old. i thought about the allergy thing also cause we just got new carpet and i had a heck of a time for the first couple weeks when the fibers were surfacng and all that, so i wondered if it could be that.
