I can't get him to the vet until tomorrow too much snow and no electricity for awhile. Today he has no vomiting but he he trying to eat everything hes not suppose too. He has pulled the strings out of my rugs and swallowed some before I caught him. He tried to eat the sheets off the bed and my table cloth. I have never seen anything like this. I called the vet and they couldn't tell me anthing over the phone. Just bring him in . Has this ever happened to anyone? any suggestion?

A friend of mine went through this with her dog Bailey. I will send her an e-mail asking her to post her suggestions.

Hi, I'm Pam's friend with Bailey. Keep a close eye on Snoopy, carpet is very dangerous for dogs to eat. There are fibers in it that work like razor blades in their intestines. If you have berber or any carpet that Snoopy can pull long strings out of and they will keep swallowing it Bailey had a strand that was about 5 ft long. She did this when she wanted to eat grass with an upset stomach. I found out later it was caused from allergies (the upset stomach) . She ate some once and it bound up in her intestines she threw up all night and into the next day she became very sick it happened on a Friday night and on Sunday I almost lost her to dehydration we rushed her to the vet Hospital about 45 miles away. I had her at my vet on Saturday morning and Sunday morning he called me to pick her up and get her to the animal hospital. They said they were not sure if they could save her. They did and she no longer is allowed in the living room without supervision. If Snoopy has eaten some Cat hair ball medicine will help her pass it. do not give her spinach that is only good for helping them pass stones that they have eaten. If snoopy is vomiting a lot make sure there is no dehydration happening that is actually what Bailey almost died from, by the way I have changed vets since all this happened. Bailey also had an ultrasound and they found a strand of the carpet still in her however the one that was blocking her rectum was opened by the vet so I opted to give hairball med first as to the $3000. surgery she passed 2 1/2 feet three days later I was going to have the surgery the next day if she did not pass it but she did. She is now on duck and potato natural balance and no table scraps no treats other than the duck and potato natural balance treats.. I think if she has not did this before and the grass outside is all covered in snow it is something upsetting her stomach and they usually eat grass to vomit it out. When they start chewing on other stuff like carpet that is why. Did she lick the carpet frantically also? If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them. If she is still having trouble keeping food down start with broth watered down and I found Bailey would take bottled water if I gave her alittle out of my bottle in one of our bowls she must have thought it to be special then. after I got her to eat broth then I gradually added instant mashed patatoes left it runny at first then a little thicker then gradually introduced chicken to that. It was a slow process but I never wanted to go through that again so I took it slow I got support from Cathy (Milkbones) She was wonderful.
