Well, here we still are. Susies left lymph node is currently about the size of a baby guinea pig... really. She looks like she swallowed one. However, after her third try with a different again antibiotic, she was no better and maybe worse. Now she was lame! Her left front leg she is still limping on. Her hips were so bad that I had to carry her outside and stairs were impossible. It was horrible. She would yelp when I even moved her and she would just melt into the couch. She slept all the time and wouldn't even want to come upstairs with us, just slept downstairs by herself. I would carry her up but then had to carry her back down to go outside. SHe couldn't even go down the stairs.
So, we started her on Deramaxx since it is little safer than the other choices. (It is like Vioxx was for people). When I had tried aspirin in the past I darn near killed her, she got sooo sick on it. Well at least now she can walk (still limping on front leg) and although her hind legs are weak and tend to slide under her, she can now stand up on her own and actually trots sometimes. She can now go up the ramp to get outside (wouldn't before). Her appetite has returned (she would eat only some broiled chicken and a little rice) and she ate a full meal last nite plus some of my hot dog and chips.
She still sleeps most of the time, but then I guess she did before all this started, too. At 12 1/2 we are looking at quality time, not quantity.
Someone suggested a natural diet. She has been on Iams her whole life. I don't know if I subscribe to this or not, but if anyone has a thread to a good one, could you post it? I also ordered some botanicals to boost the immune system, since this is supposedly an immune response. I am thinking her sudden flare of arthritis is also due to this immune disfunction but we don't know.Up to this point the syn-flex was working wonderfully and shw was very mobile. I am so aggravated to not know what is going on. If this lump gets any bigger it is going to swallow her head!
So, that is what is up with Susie. Please post any links you think might be helpful as to natural diets, I am not really sold on those.
