We adopted 2 bassets almost 2 weeks ago; we love 'em! They are 7 year old brother and sister who have rarely, if ever, been apart. My question is this; the girl is the boss of the two, and twice in the last couple of weeks they've "gotten into it" fairly vigorously. Today the female got her tooth just under her brother's eye and gave him a nasty little cut. She has since "apologized," and cleans it for him!! I wonder if this happens to others with multiple bassets, and if there are certain situations we should avoid (today they were barking at company, and were in a small little entryway going into our house, and that's where it all started!!) Thanks for any help and insights you can give.

I have eight bassets and 2 schnauzers and a part lab. We have had some terrible fights. They have some major battle wounds. The female basset are spayed and two males are nuetered. I don't know what to tell you. I'm to the point now of investing in training collars. Most of the fight start when the get excited. Maybe someone will give us some insight on the problem. I guess we could call Cesar Millan the dog whisper.

Bless you!! That is quite the crew! My female has not been spayed, though she will be by this time next week. I thought that may have something to do with it, but guess not!! Excitement seems to be the key ingredient. Thanks for writing; at least I know I'm not alone.
