I have been using syn-flex liquid for some time, previously for old Susie, and just always did with Sam too, since he is middle aged and heavy. I also have been giving it to Sally since her hind hips are wobbly.
I think it is what has been making Sam chew obsessively on his paws until the insides are red and he is lame! The last few days I have not given it to him and he has stopped. (We had to put boots on him once he was so bad and wouldn't stop).
Has anyone else seen an allergic response to this supplement? There are other ingredients besides the glucosamine, and the glucosamine is in a liquid form. I used it because it was a miracle drug for Susie in her last years and turned back the clock for her.
THanks, Dot

I'm sorry Dotti, I know nothing about glucosamine, but hopefully you have cured his allergy! Maybe your vet could help you out and if Sam does have an allergy to the glucosamine, maybe the vet can give you something else to use.

I consulted a friend of mine who is a whole lot more knowledgable about Syn-Flex and canine allergies and she said, yes, he very well could be allergic to anything and everything in the formula. The thing to remember is that while it may have worked for Susie, and while it might work for Sally (keep wanting to call her Polly), it obviously will not work for Sam.

Emily frequently gets allergic skin reactions seemingly out of the blue and our vet had a very interesting way of describing it.
She says Emily's allergies are like a bucket. You can dump in a little of this (summer pollen) a little of that (food ingredients) and eventually, if you put in enough stuff, you get an 'overflow' - an alleric breakout that no one factor alone would have caused.
I wonder if the glucosamine just tipped the balance for poor old Sam - summer seems to be a top time for allergic reactions for Emily.
Hope it's all easing off for him - and for you.
Best wishes Cara
