Thanks so much for sharing those wonderful pictures with us. What beautiful hounds you have!! I would love to go to a Basset show sometime to just see all of the wonderful hounds. I'll have to have my husband try to post some pictures of Milo if we can figure out how to do it. Milo is certainly not a show dog, but we think he is a pretty handsome boy!!

Snoopy and Nikki are two of the most beautiful hounds I have ever seen. I can never get enough of looking at them! Have you considered showing them internationally? I really with I lived in OZ so that i could have one of their pups. I am still looking for a show pup. I have found one breeder that I think has potential. Do you think you could go and take a look at their site and tell me what you think? www.oldefashion.com/Betty

Hi Betty, Many thanks for all your compliments , Yes I have looked at that site and they appear to be very good reputable breeders of quality hounds,I think they would be worth talking to, tell them you want a show puppy and when you go to look at one look for good bone, good top line ( must be level) Good temperment, not to long in the legs, nice short hocks, if possible its good to be able to see the mother and father as thats what you will probably get, its also good if you can see the pup at 12 weeks plus as any earlier is to young to get a good idea as to what they are going to look like, in any case its hard to judge what a pup is going to turn out like, Snoopy was 6 months old before I was sure he was going to be the one so it will always be a bit of a gamble. Try to join a local club as you will get a lot of help from other members, Good Luck , Regards Harry

Thank you for your input. Actually, I have talked with the woman that owns that kennel and she is wonderful. Full of information! Plus she screened me out pretty good which I actually liked. It helped me to feel like she really wants to know where her pups are going, especially her show pups. She does require that her show quality pups are taken to their championship in a timely manner which I really think is great. In order to join the BHCA, I need to have a sponsor and I don't know anyone locally that is a member. I am still looking for help in that area and won't give up, believe me! I am still not quite ready yet to get that special pup as I am still learning and want to attend a few more shows and talk to others before I commit. I need to make sure that I am ready to follow through on showing my guy at least to championship if not further. On the up side, my family is really behind me on this one and my son is really interested in learning to be a junior handler. He is 12 and already reads every single book on the breed that he can get his hands on as well as books on general dog care, etc. He loves to train Lillian and participates in obedience classes with me. I really appreciate you helping me out and I look forward to hearing more about your beautiful hounds.

Thanks for the update Betty, it looks like you are on the right road, going to as many shows as you can you will get to know people in the BHCA, and you will get known and make friends who in turn will sponsor you, I know how you feel , a bit nervy to get started, but once you get your puppy and go off to shows you will get bitten by the" BUG" and will be looking forward to going off to shows each week or as often as you can , its great that your son is interested too, I can see he may become a " judge of the Future " you are all doing something you enjoy together, my wife doesnt show but comes with me all the time she enjoys watching, my grandson Mitchell comes also. I will be looking forward to hearing from you as get started, one thing to remember if you dont like showing after you have had a good go at it you can retire and have your dog as a pet and forget the show scene altogether, also when you are showing you must have a good sence of humour because if you start winning a lot some show people get a bit peeved, just laugh it off dont take it too seriously, Well Betty I am sure you will be all soon away showing as a family good luck, if you need to ask me any further questions please feel free I will help if I can . Kind Regards Harry
