I am Anne-Marie...I have two Bassets. Mowgli is 9 months old and Baloo is almost 4 months old. I'd love to post a picture, but don't know how! Need to learn all this digital stuff!

emma is the standard tri-color, cloe is the darker. her head is actually a real dark chocolate lab color and she has chocolate in her flanks as well. she has chocolate everywhere that emma has lighter brown. the guy we got them from didn't like cloe as much cause she was only 2 colors. as she grew up she got her chocolate. i guess she showed him. here is a pic of emma at her other job:)  |

Don't most hounds change some of their black to brown as they grow? I know that is the case with Lillian. She started out with a black face with a white flare and thumbprint brown eyebrows. Now her face is mostly brown (with the white flare) and any black that is left is changing to brown as she grows.
Any color combo is the right one..lol.

If I could find a website that shows the progression of color changes in a basset as they grow I would be so happy! It's one of them unsolved things in life! Emma is a very busy Basset!  |

and cloe hates the camera. we got her when she was 12 weeks old and i got the impression the guy did not like her cause she was non standard colors. but sometimes she acts like she was abused. very afraid of the camera, freaked out when i tried to measure her with a tape measure. and she is very much an attention hog. she wants it all, all of the time. i hope no one who breeds would abuse a baby, but i knowthat is probably not true. and there is no way to know for sure, so we will just have to give her all the love she needs, and sneak pictures of her.

That's sad.
I can't for the life of me think how someone could abuse a puppy? But sadly if it could happen to a child then I'm sure it happens every day to puppies.
