Hello everyone! Several of you have offered some wonderful suggestions on potty training and I welcome any advise since this is my first basset. I do however have a few questions. I have been reading about cheweys---do I really not give her any? Is it true that they do not digest? So far the only things that I have found that really entertain her are cheweys and pigs ears.
What about getting on the couch? I have read that it is not a good idea because of their build and that it is hard on their back. I have to say that Lexie is 4 months old and doesn't get on the couch unless we are at grandma and grandmaws house.
Last question---HOW DO I CONTROL THE BARKING?
As you can tell my only kids are my pets and I really do want to do what is best for her.
The floor is open and I would really like to hear from all the experienced basset lovers.
Thanks! Penny

Here is the link to that thread it is full of tons of useful advice. bassets.proboards23.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1075482194 Have you tried my suggestion about the barking? If you have and haven't had any success with it let us know. I am sure that some of the more experienced owners can give you more suggestions.

Thanks for the advise of the chewys. I will check our local Pet Smart and see if they have them. I have tried the greenie and Lexie does like it. I really want to make sure that what I give her isn't going to hurt her in anyway.
Yes, we are trying your suggestion on the barking---I really hope she learns this one. I will let you know.
Thanks! Penny
