Robbie was his name and Harry kept us posted from the finding of Robbie until the placement of him. I hope that Wendy will keep us posted about the hounds. Was Harry the only one that showed them? I never saw photos of her in the ring.

My mother was Harry's sister and hence he my Uncle.
Aunty Wendy told mum about this wonderful website and the tributes that are pouring in for my Uncle.
I just had to sit down and read them all and can't believe that so many people on the other side of the world are paying their respects to a truely wonderful man. I had to join this forum, mainly to say thank you.
He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle. He is truely missed by everyone and it seems hard to come to terms with the fact that he is now up there looking down on all of us.
My mother is finding it very hard to come to terms with losing her only brother. As you know Uncle Harry & Aunty Wendy live in Melbourne, we live in Queensland and have since I was 6. It is times like this that make you realise you are far away from your family and times like this wishing you lived around the corner.

It is so nice of you Louise to stopy by. I sent Wendy a note but did not hear back from her. I'm sure that she has many, many other importants things on her mind. Do let her know that we will forever miss Harry and his gentle spirit. Harry was good about posting photos of OZ. I feel so guilty because he has asked me to do the same and although I did post some, I did not get to share photos that I really wanted him to see. You did not mention if you have hounds or not but....we do have another forum that is N.B.R. (non basset related) we would love for you to stick around. Thanks for stopping in and I will continue to pray for your family. Penny

Thanks for your kind words.
I myself don't have any bassets, I do have a dog though (Black Labrador) called Monty. I think my love of animals comes from my mother & Uncle Harry's side of the family as both my sister & myself love dogs.
Lexie don't feel guilty about not posting many photos. Uncle Harry wouldn't hold that against you, he was a very kind man.

Hello to everyone that has been so kind in their kind words for my loving brother Harry yes I am his sister and I have been amazed to find so many kind words about him and that my daughter Louise has been on this site saying what she did about her Uncle Harry.
We were very close as brother and sister and good mates and yes I am finding it very hard to understand of his passing but know that he is happy with all his good little 4 legged mates.
I have two corgi puppies that are keeping me on my toes but Harry and Wendy's dogs are just beautiful.
Again many thanks to you all.
Patricia

Welcome to our board Louise and Patricia You both are always welcomed here and thank you so much for thinking of us in your own time of heartache to be able to share with us. We all loved Harry very much and more so we respected him and his knowledge of Bassets. I personally looked up to Harry very much so. He was somewhat my mentor when it came to breeding my babies. I actually hung on the edge of my chair waiting for Harry's replies to let me know I was doing the right thing or to answer my endless amount of questions I would ask him so that I knew I was breeding and raising by my babies the right way. I remember my first litter of puppies. I was worst off then I had ever been with any of my own (two legged children) were born! Harry came through just like he always would. He comforted and reassured me that everything would be fine to just help the momma out best I could. His advice came with a ton of other helpful information (about 3 pages of email) but it was the calmness and reassurance that helped the most. I delivered 13 beautifully healthy puppies shortly after that and I swear Harry must have been as nervous as I was waiting for that day to come! I truly believe we are all better people in our hearts and in our care for our Bassets here because of a man thousands of miles away in the land of Oz.

I couldn't have said it any better, Lonnie. I know that I learned alot from him in regards to my houndies. He was always very knowledgeable and very quick to help anyone in need. I will miss his presence here at Southern Bassets.
